How to Catch a Raccoon Without a Trap

They may look cute, but do you know they can disturb your home structure? Raccoons are easy to recognize because of their ringed tail and black mask. Their size varies from 24-46 inches with a weight of 12-25 pounds.

How do they get into the home?

One of the major entry points for the raccoons is the chimney. So if you want to prevent your home from raccoons, then it is important to cover your chimney firewall properly; otherwise, once they get into your house, they will destroy your garden by digging and will destroy the plants.

They are also excellent climbers so they can get in through climbing the trees, especially when the tree branches are touching the attic; they get in on the attic and start living over there. It is easy to get rid of one raccoon, but the process gets difficult and challenging when they are living with their children. Although raccoons do not harm the human, when they feel their child is in danger, they show aggressive behavior.

How to catch a raccoon without any trap?

People who are interested to know how they can catch a raccoon even without using any trap they read the following suggestion that will help them in catching a raccoon.

Use of blanket

If you have found a raccoon within the home, then follow the raccoon slowly, and by use of the blanket, you can catch them. But while doing this work, you really need to be conspicuous and careful because if they notice you are moving to them, they will run off from that place and may hide into their den. Put the blanket on the raccoon, and later you can move them to another place away from your home.

Use of box

Another way to catch the raccoon is the use of a box, simply attach a thread with the opening of the box and add some food that raccoons really like, place the box near to their den and keep the thread in your hand. Hide so the raccoon will not be able to see you, once they entered into the box, by using thread close the box door and run to close the box. You can use tape to close the box properly. Later you can shift this place at the place from where they cannot come back, but do not forget to open the box; otherwise, it will be an inhumane act.

Use of an anesthesia

This is one of the tricky but effective ways to catch a raccoon. Simply give them anesthesia when they fall asleep; you can easily move them from one place to the other place. You can also use the anesthesia on cotton bugs and place them near to their den, once they smell it, you can complete your mission in their sleeping time.

Reuse the anesthesia if the cotton budgets dry or until you did not catch the raccoon.
